چکیده

Carbide tungsten cobalt alloys were deformed in compression or in three point bending in a temperature range 1000-1350°C and in a stress domain 30-1000MPa. In these conditions, the stress exponent n of WC-CO alloys is a function of only the cobalt volurnic ratio and tends tow rds n = 1 for pure B carbide. The apparent activation energy is 550 kj mole. T.E.M. investigations on pure carbide deformed at 1450°C show an extensive intragranular deformation. Analysis of these defects have been performed. Moreover an accurate study has shown a different behaviour between coincidence grain boundaries (1 = 2, 4, 13a) and general grain boundaries. These data and macroscopic results allow to propose a model for the deformation of carbide tungsten cobalt composites.

Creep behavior and in-depth microstructural characterization of dissimilar joints

The 700 °C power plants currently under development will utilize Ni-base alloys such as alloy 617 for components to be operated at temperatures >650 °C. Due to economic reasons for components or parts of components which are subjected to temperatures <650 °C, 2% Cr or 9-12% Cr steels is used, depending on the required mechanical properties. This makes the dissimilar joining of Ni-base alloys an...

CREEP AGE FORMING OF Al-Zn-Mg ALLOYS WITH OPTIMIZATION OF MECHANICALl PROPERTIES

Creep age forming (CAF) is one of the novel methods in aerospace industry that has been used to manufacture components of panels with improved mechanical properties and reduced fabrication cost. CAF is a combined age-hardening and stress-relaxation that are responsible for strengthening and forming, respectively. This paper deals with the experimental investigations of mechanical and springback...

Sintering and Characterizations of WC-20wt.% (Fe,Co) Nano-Structured Powders Developed by Ball-Milling

The aim of the present work is to study the effects of the nanostructured WC-20 wt. % (Fe,Co) with different ratios of iron to cobalt on the microstructure and hardness of sintered samples. Furthermore, a sample with a cobalt binder under the same condition was produced for the comparison purposes. The nanocomposite development, after different milling times, has been monitored by means of X-ra...

Development of Creep-Resistant Tungsten Carbide Copper Cemented Carbide

Fine-grained tungsten carbide copper (WC-Cu) cemented carbide was sintered via spark plasma sintering at 1773K using a fine WC powder with a mean particle size of 0.11 mm. The mechanical properties were compared with tungsten carbide cobalt (WC-Co) cemented carbide and a binderless WC-sintered material. The Vickers hardness and fracture toughness obtained by the indentation fracture method for ...

The Role of the Binder Phase in the WC-Co Sintering

The sintering of hardmetal in the solid state is studied. The influence of the WC particle size on the sintering kinetics, the role of the binder phase in the densification process and how sintering depends on the heating conditions are investigated. It is observed that alloys with different WC particle size show quite different structural evolution during sintering, although the densification ...
